So far this term we have examined the concept of history.  You have expressed what you thought it means and created your own “history connections” chart.

Studying history has many values – your first blog will require you to give your interpretation.

For me the study of history has been an ongoing passion – having lived in Europe and other parts of the world it has enriched my understanding of the different cultures. As a child I remember reading about the different rulers of France- my favourites were Charlemagne, Louis XIV and Napoleon. When I was eighteen I had the pleasure of walking around the streets of Pompeii, Italy and imagining the lives of its citizens but sadly also feeling the fear that may have engulfed them when Vesuvius erupted.

Tour of Pompeii, the forgotten city gives you some info on this interesting ancient city.

As a young design student I studied architectual history and appreciated the finer points of different styles and methods.

Depending on your interest – history can help you in your appreciation of it.

History is all around us, in the artefacts and the writings of others have been touched by it. To know who we are depends on what has been and how it will fit into what will be.
